Heading To The TechCrunch Party

July 26th, 2007 by Administrator

I am especially excited for this weekend. I will be heading to the TechCrunch party this Friday and hopefully meeting lots of people.

I consider this a great networking event for me and for introducing my company to people who may not have heard of it or don’t know much about it.

TechCrunch has really evolved since it started two years ago. I started reading it in early 2006 nearly six months after it launched and have been a loyal RSS subscriber ever since. They are going to do great things starting with the TechCrunch20 conference they have coming up this Fall.
I will definitely blog about it when it is over. This will be my first time in “the Valley” and I hope to meet some of the people I read about. Expect a full report this weekend.

The Difference Between Michael Richards’ Comment and Mel Gibson’s

November 22nd, 2006 by Administrator

There is a technology reason why Michael Richards’ racist statements are more vicious and will continue to be recounted. There was video and that video made it on YouTube.

It is very arguable that Richards may not have even made an apology had the video not been put on YouTube. After all, he made the comments on Friday and we didn’t hear an apology until Tuesday.

His apology, although remorseful, is quite disingenuous. For some reason he mentions Hurricane Katrina to cite blame for the fervor caused by his comments.

Let’s get back to the tech issue. If Mel Gibson’s drunken racist slurs were played on YouTube, would the outcome have been any different? Would an apology have come sooner. What YouTube has done is make people more accountable for their actions. Celebrities cannot get away with bad behavior or else it ends up on TMZ or YouTube or some other internet news outlet.
